Bipartisan Organic Research Funding Bill Introduced in Senate

February 7, 2018 - Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Bob Casey (D-PA) have joined together to introduce the Organic Agriculture Research Act in the Senate. The bill will renew the Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI), the USDA’s flagship organic research program, and increase the funding annually over the life of the next Farm Bill. 

OFRF at High Plains Organic Farming Conference

The 5th Annual High Plains Organic Farming Conference takes place Tuesday and Wednesday, February 27th and 28th at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming.The theme for this year's conference is Innovative Solutions for Organic Agriculture. Sessions will include information on organic certification, dryland cropping systems, intensive vegetable production, and livestock systems. OFRF's Policy Associate, Michael Stein, will be the keynote speaker on February 28th at 3:30 pm.

OFRF's Conference Draws Researchers from Near and Far

OFRF’s 2018 Organic Farming Research Conference was held on January 26th.in partnership with the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFA) and Rutgers University. 

The day-long session included twenty presentations by researchers from up and down the East Coast—including Rutgers University, University of Maine, University of West Virginia, and New York University—and as far away as the University of Hawaii and USDA-ARS North Dakota.
